Thanksgiving was pretty quiet this year. We had a fun little family, the
Thompsons, over for dinner and it was so nice to visit with them and have some company. We were really missing our families this year and thought we were going to have to eat alone. I didn't get any pictures of the food, which is a down right shame because it all turned out delicious. I made the turkey this year and our annual Sour-cream lemon pie. We also made rolls, sweet potatoes and stuffing from a box! We were spoiled by having the
Thompsons over because they both love to cook and brought a
smorgasbord of offerings. We watched the dog show on TV and played some
Scattegories. Over-all, I'd say it was a highly successful holiday! We are so thankful for all of our many blessings but most of all for each other.
I thought it would be funny to take a picture of the aftermath of the cooking this year, instead of the actual feast. Not too bad...
Me peeling sweet potatoes. We realized a little too late that we forgot to make the Anson family Pond Scum this year:( Oh well, there is always Christmas!
Random but interesting...Valley Park just started offering leaf vacuuming services this year and boy did we take advantage of that! We have piles of leaves left over from before we even moved into this house! David spent an entire day loading all the leaves onto tarps (a
Midwest skill that is a total time-saver) and dragged them all out front. The pile carried on all the way up the street. We kept joking that instead of having snowdrifts, we had
leaf drifts instead. The kids had fun playing in the piles with the neighbor kids.
K.I.S.S. Day! Caleb's school recently had Kids Invite Someone Special Day. Usually, the students invite grandparents or friends to come but Caleb wanted to invite his little sis, Emmy. It was pouring rain that morning and we had to walk a pretty distance from our parking spot down the street to get to the school, but it was all worth it! Emmy had fun visiting her brother and he had fun showing her off. They made Thanksgiving turkeys and chatted. Emmy loves her big brother!
